We spent the most wonderful days at the gorgeous lush Hiva Oa, where the people lived primarily directly off the nature. We relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful view from the house on the mountain. Now we have said our goodbyes...
Taaoa, where we are staying, you will find the archeological site Upeke. It is a very sacred place. On the Tohua you could see ritual dances and on the many platforms (paepae) sacrifices to the Gods were made...
We have now travelled for 25 days. We are all looking forward to a full week in this lovely villa. But we have also realized how fast time passes. When we leave..
The day started like always at 6.45 am. We are always going to breakfast at 7.00 am, and the food is already on the table. There aren't much other things to say about breakfast, than it was good...
Action has to be the head line of the day!! As described in an earlier blog the fishermen return from the sea early in the morning. The catch is filleted directly at the port. Buyers from the restaurants in town are ready to bring back fresh...
We woke up at 7 o’clock and had breakfast with pancakes. We were supposed to go horseback riding but we could not go because it was raining really much.
It is only 1-5 million years ago, that a deep hotspot spewed lava and created these volcanic islands. Now they are on a strange voyage: they move immensively slowly towards Alaska, while sinking

I have always had a longing for travel. For as long as I can remember I have had a dream about traveling the world for 6 months with my family.
Divorce, career and other things have always pushed the dream aside.
We always traveled a lot with the children. We spent several hours in the car dragging our caravan to numerous places and also traveled by plane both near and far. Experiencing together is what gives unity, strength and a common frame of reference for our family.
I’m the planner. I research TripAdvisor, travel blogs, travel literature and homepages for travel bureaus just to make sure we don’t miss out on the most cozy restaurant, the beautiful viewpoints, the biggest nature experiences or the cultural highlights.
We rarely book a lot in advance since we enjoy the spontaneity. However we come fully prepared so that we can go back home with the feeling of having experienced everything.

My first longer travel abroad was a high school exchange stay in the United States. I developed a taste for traveling and took a job in the UN. I lived in Thailand, Switzerland and Egypt. When I became self employed in my own business I really started traveling. The company had many assignments in the East and in Africa. The best journey of my life was in Japan. I traveled 100 days from north to south with my youngest son Frederic.
I travel for enjoyment. I don’t like to plan too much, but take joy in being surprised and choosing new goals from day to day. I like getting to know a lot of people on the way.

Wifi is essential on the journey. The wifi password is the first thing I ask for at restaurants and hotels. Waiting hours are spent on-line. Being on-line is especially a good companion on long hauls.
Question number 2 after the wifi password. Is: Will there be a swimming pool? This is where I spent most of the day if possible.
When I blog I am writing in both Danish and English. I translate myself as it’s a part of my home work on our journey.

I love the sense of togetherness we have as a family when we are traveling. I cherish the memories we create together.
I enjoy active skiing holidays and vacations spent relaxing by the pool.

All details are documented by film when we are traveling. It is mixed into funny video clips for everyone’s entertainment.
I want to experience everything; the culture, the food and meet the people.
Just bring me a long - I am ready.
