Vores to stop i Marquesas: Nuku Hiva og Hiva Oa<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Det er kun 1-5 millioner \u00e5r siden, at et dybt “hotspot” spyede lava og skabte disse vulkan\u00f8er. Nu er de p\u00e5 en besynderlig rejse: de bev\u00e6ger sig ultralangsomt i retning af Alaska og synker samtidigt nogle millimeter hvert \u00e5r. P\u00e5 et tidspunkt bliver de til atoller med store koralrev – som dem vi skal bes\u00f8ge om et par uger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

S\u00e5 det er g\u00e5et op for os, at vi bor p\u00e5 randen af et vulkankrater, fyldt med vand. For at f\u00e5 det fulde overblik, m\u00e5 vi p\u00e5 en meget meget varm vandretur gennem visnet skov op ad kratersiden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anstrengelserne krones med held. Vi nyder udsigten – men ogs\u00e5 en snak med andre vandrere, der venligt byder os p\u00e5 banankage :-). Et \u00e6ldre fransk \u00e6gtepar, der har rejst rundt i deres b\u00e5d i seks \u00e5r (!) – og fx. netop er kommet fra en \u00f8, hvor de opholdt sig i tre m\u00e5neder – uden telefon og internet – og tilbragte tiden med at jage vildsvin… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Efter et hvil, smiler alle igen<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

P\u00e5 toppen bliver vi bel\u00f8nnet med den flotteste udsigt til krateret – I den venstre side ligger et Relais et Chateau luksushotel (lukket pga. Covid) – og i h\u00f8jre side regeringsbygninger, hospital og politistation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Efter den anstrengende vandretur, spiste vi frokost p\u00e5 kajen. Denne gang huskede vi kun at bestille to portioner til deling. Portionerne her er amerikansk-store – og vi er alle pinligt ber\u00f8rt over al den mad, vi ikke har f\u00e5et spist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Henunder aften k\u00f8rer vi ned til en ny strand, vi opdagede p\u00e5 morgenens vandring. Den har hvidt sand – skabts af koralrev. Meget m\u00e6rkeligt hvordan byens to strande kan v\u00e6re s\u00e5 forskellige – sort og hvid!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
